Middle-grade and young adult fiction, including novels celebrating unlikely underdog alliances, close siblings, fierce friendships, and found families, with particular interest in stories centered on queer and BIPOC community and joy. In middle-grade: cozy, emotionally resonant fantasy and literary-leaning multi-layered mysteries. In young adult: sweeping fantasy set in fully realized unique worlds, especially those inspired by non-European cultures, as well as thrillers with strong hooks. Also open to well-researched, propulsive narrative nonfiction for both categories, especially from authors from marginalized communities.

Horror, fantasy, suspense, thrillers, romantasy, romance

Jenny is currently looking for clients she can co-rep with her colleague James Mustelier. They are seeking all kinds of high concept genre fiction for adults and young adults: horror, fantasy, suspense/thriller, romantasy, and romance. Of particular interest are authors who have successfully been working in the indie space and are now looking to transition into traditional or hybrid publishing, and submissions from BIPOC authors are additionally welcomed. Jenny tends to prefer plot-driven books with strong pacing, novels with an element of magic or fantasy, and stories that are dark and weird in content but traditional in structure and storytelling — she is not the right fit for books with overtly political or extremely complicated plotlines.

Paste the first ten pages of your manuscript in the body of the email — no attachments. For picture books, include the complete text, illustrators should also include a link to your website or two to three PDFs or JPEGs of your work. Literary fiction, non-fiction

Literary fiction and non-fiction that combines formal precision with emotional depth. In fiction: character-driven narratives with conceptual freshness, ranging from highly literary to broadly engaging works, including love and family stories that explore human relationships with honesty and nuance, artful hybrid novels, speculative fiction that unsettles conventional modes of being, and historical fiction animated by contemporary sensibility. In non-fiction: writing that balances scholarly rigor with vivid personal narrative, including literary biographies, socially-rooted memoir, and cultural histories.
