Who we are

PairPi is a UK-based literary agent directory available at pairpi.com. When we say “we”, “us”, or “our” in this policy, we mean PairPi.

What data we collect

Account data

When you create an account, we collect your email address. Your password is hashed and stored securely by our authentication provider, Supabase — we never have access to your plain-text password.

Payment data

Payments are handled entirely by Stripe. We do not store your card number or bank details. Stripe may share limited information with us (such as the last four digits of your card and your billing email) so we can display subscription status in your account.

Usage data

We store data you create while using PairPi, including saved agents, shortlists, submission tracker entries, saved searches, Smart Search queries, and notification preferences. This data is tied to your account and is necessary to provide the service.

Analytics

We may collect basic, anonymised usage information such as page views and feature usage patterns to help us improve PairPi. We do not build advertising profiles or sell your data.

Why we collect your data

• To create and manage your account
• To process payments and manage subscriptions
• To provide the features you use (shortlists, submissions, alerts, Smart Search)
• To send transactional emails: password resets, subscription confirmations, and agent alerts you've opted into
• To improve the service and fix bugs

We do not send marketing emails. The only emails you'll receive are ones directly related to your account or alerts you've set up.

Third-party services

We use a small number of trusted third-party services to run PairPi:

• Supabase — database and authentication. Data is stored in the EU/EEA.
• Stripe — payment processing. Stripe handles all card data under their own privacy policy.
• Vercel — hosting and content delivery.
• Resend — transactional email delivery.
• Anthropic — Smart Search uses Anthropic's API for AI-powered agent matching. Your book description is sent to their API to generate results. Anthropic does not use API inputs to train their models.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with anyone else.

Cookies

PairPi uses only essential cookies required for authentication. When you sign in, a session cookie is set so we can keep you logged in. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking cookies, or third-party analytics cookies.

Data retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain records by law (for example, payment records retained under UK tax regulations).

Your rights

Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR), you have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data
• Erasure — ask us to delete your data
• Restrict processing — ask us to limit how we use your data
• Data portability — request your data in a portable format
• Object — object to our processing of your data

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by posting a notice on the site. The “last updated” date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
