Almost every writer hates writing the synopsis. You're being asked to flatten three hundred pages of carefully built tension and character into two pages of plain prose, and somehow make it sound compelling. The good news is that the synopsis is mostly read after an agent already likes your query and opening pages — which means it doesn't need to be brilliant. It just needs to be clear, complete, and not embarrassing.
