RepresentsNon-fiction
Looking forNon-fiction aimed at big, mainstream adult audiences, written by authors who are experts in their fields or have established platforms. Particularly interested in history (broad brushstrokes or specific stories that read as compellingly as fiction), true crime, accessible pop science, stories with animals at their heart, useful cookery that does something new, and puzzle and humour books. Also keen on books that bring readers joy, improve their health, wellbeing, career or lives, and books that help readers understand the world today, such as titles on politics, climate and nature. Not looking for fiction.
How to submitCurrently closed to submissions. When open, email emilysubmissions@theblairpartnership.com with the working title in the subject line. Include a one-line elevator pitch, a short blurb, target market and genre, and anything relevant about you (prizes, social media platforms, qualifications, career experience). Attach a proposal document and writing sample in one Word document or PDF. The proposal should be no more than 10,000 words and include why your book is different from what has been published before, why your target market needs it now, at least three comparable titles, and a writing sample of 1–3 chapters. Do not send Pages documents, Google documents, WeTransfer or DropBox downloads. Do not post submissions. Emily also asks submitters to address four criteria in their email: an eye-catching hook or appealing promise, evidence of an existing adult audience, strong reasons why you are the right author for the project, and that the work is written with flair or includes beautiful illustrations.
