Graphic novels are a small but established part of trade publishing, with adult literary graphic memoirs, middle-grade adventures, young adult crossovers, and genre fiction in comics form all finding readers and editors. Alison Bechdel's Fun Home, Marjane Satrapi's Persepolis, and the New York Times graphic non-fiction shelf all sit somewhere on this page's roster. Some agents represent author-illustrators only; others work with writers paired with artists, or text-led graphic novels where the writer briefs the visual collaborator. Submission packages are different from prose: agents typically want sample pages, character designs, a synopsis, and sometimes a complete script. 45+ agents on this page show graphic novel signals or closely related illustrated-book interests. Check the submission guidelines carefully before sending anything, because format expectations vary more here than almost anywhere else in trade publishing.
