Safae represents adult, YA, and crossover fiction with a focus on fantasy, speculative fiction, romantasy, and satire. She is drawn to dynamic, voice-driven narratives that carry a sense of urgency—stories that are emotionally impactful with a strong hook and smart-mouthed dialogue. She enjoys both dark, gritty narratives and quirky, offbeat stories, as well as fresh spins on familiar tropes such as enemies-to-lovers, fake relationships, and forbidden love. She also supports translators working from languages of the Global Majority. She is not looking for poetry, short story collections, novellas, picture books, middle grade fiction, or memoirs.

Fiction submissions should include a covering letter, the first three chapters or approximately the first fifty pages to a natural break, and a brief synopsis. Non-fiction should be a proposal of up to twenty pages. Attachments in Word or PDF are acceptable, or paste sample chapters into the email body. Submit to one agent only. Response time is approximately six to eight weeks, no acknowledgement of receipt.

Foreign rights (translation) and building client list

Tristan Kendrick handles translation rights in Brazil, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, France, Iceland, The Netherlands, Hungary, Italy, Norway, Portugal, Spain and Sweden, both directly and with co-agents. He is also currently building his own list of clients.
