Middle Grade Historical Fiction Literary Agents

63 agents · 37 currently open to submissions

Middle grade historical fiction has to make the past immediate for an 8-to-12 reader without turning the book into homework. Agents look for child-sized stakes inside larger events: evacuation, migration, family secrets, injustice, war, discovery, or a life shaped by rules the reader can feel. Good research should disappear into story.

A word on the search. Some agents list middle grade and historical fiction separately, while others say children's broadly. This page requires both signals. Use the broad search toggle on the main directory when you want to catch children's agents whose historical taste may not be named directly.

Every listing on PairPi is verified against the agent's own website, with the date we last checked. In a middle grade historical submission, the period matters, but the child reader still needs agency, pace, and a reason to care before the lesson arrives.
