Leslie focuses on under-represented voices, especially work centering disability, poverty, women, neurodivergence, Judaism, Islam, and non-Western religions. She seeks books with a strong commercial premise, distinct prose, and multiple layers of meaning.

Leslie accepts submissions only via QueryManager. Her usual process is to open to unsolicited queries for the first full week of each month, but the current form says she is closed until the new year. Required materials are a query letter, short bio, and first five pages, or complete picture book text or dummy.
