Non-fiction of all kinds, including memoir. Does not represent poetry, screenplays, scripts, or work written or enhanced by AI. Does not typically represent writers based outside the UK.

Email submissions@colwillandpeddle.com with the subject line 'Non-fiction Submission'. Include a brief pitch of around 300 words in the body of the email. Attach a single Word document (.doc/.docx) containing a cover letter and a proposal that covers: what the book is about and why it is important and original, a brief biography explaining why you are the right person to write this book, competing or similar titles, a chapter or sample of at least 10,000 words, and a chapter outline. Full manuscripts are accepted, particularly for memoirs.

Fiction, children's fiction, children's non-fiction

Smart romance with an edge, fresh and page-turning crime fiction, horror and literary horror with a contemporary resonance, and literary fiction that is funny and moving with a brand new hook. In children's books, a funny and engaging author-illustrator with a fresh series for young readers (5+), middle grade fiction with strong world-building and characters we haven't seen before, grounded YA fantasy, high-concept YA contemporary, and books about unusual relationships. In children's non-fiction, books that tackle curriculum subjects in a new and engaging way, and real-life stories for middle grade and YA readers. No longer accepting picture books.

Broad non-fiction including memoir, creative non-fiction, food, art, comedy, the natural world, psychology, health, and the social and political. In fiction, character-driven literary fiction that is brutally honest, exploring inner lives and social dynamics, with darkness and complexity but not without hope, and writing that is playful and poetic. Does not represent children's, YA, sci-fi, fantasy or crime.
