Andrew Hewson (1942–2026) was a founding director of Johnson and Alcock and had been involved with the agency for over 50 years. He began his publishing career as assistant to John Johnson in 1969, having previously worked in theatre management, and later acquired the John Johnson Agency, running it with his late wife Margaret. The agency merged with Michael Alcock Management in 2003 to form Johnson and Alcock, his clients included award-winning novelists, biographers, historians, poets, and playwrights.
