- Looking for
- Adult and children's fiction, along with a small amount of non-fiction — above all, a great story with characters to care deeply about. Bold, distinctive voices, intriguing stories with a strong hook, and flawed characters with something to learn. Truly diverse characters and inclusive, body-positive, joyful representation, as well as big, mind-bending ideas and fresh combinations of genres. Particularly interested in Thrutopias, graphic novels, highly integrated illustrated middle grade or YA fiction, and funny fiction for children and young adults.

What we found
Submissions accepted via form on the submissions page during monthly window (1st-7th). Requires cover letter and first three chapters and synopsis. HS-LA does not represent short story collections, novellas, poetry, or screenplays, no postal submissions. Hannah worked in-house editorial for a decade at Pan Macmillan and Headline Publishing Group before joining DHH Literary Agency in 2013, then launched HS-LA in 2023. She actively seeks authors from underrepresented groups including global majority, LGBTQ and , disabled, neurodivergent, working class, and older writers, and holds a monthly public Drop-In Zoom (last Wednesday of the month, midday) where writers can ask industry questions. An accessible version of the submission form is available for screen reader users. Writers may submit to associate agent Louise Buckley if Hannah passes, but should approach one agent at a time.
