- Quality commercial fiction with strong characterisation, convincing dialogue, and ambitious storytelling — ideally from authors whose voices and ideas could work across a series or multiple standalones. In non-fiction, the definitive book in its subject area, the title that will become core stock in bookshops, sell on for years, and be the benchmark against which others are measured. Also eager to work with expert or science writers who use their expertise, life experience, or academic standing to explain or solve problems for readers.

What we found
Submission package (email): cover letter in body, 1-page synopsis and first 3 chapters (~10,000) for fiction (Word or PDF). Non-fiction: cover letter and full outline (aims of each chapter) and sample chapter. No post, no scripts or screenplays. Amanda founded Maven Literary Management in 2025 after six years of agenting at YMU, where she built the literary division from scratch and sold close to 100 books, securing multiple six and seven-figure deals. She won Literary Agent of the Year at the British Book Awards 2025 and has been shortlisted for the prize four times. Earlier in her career she won a PPC Award for her publicity work with Colin Dexter and spent 14 years at Orion, where she founded the Orion Spring and Seven Dials imprints. She is currently Chair of the Book Society.
